Culture

The culture of Chennai influences its different people. It is well recognized for its Hindu temples and classic dance programs. In every year, Chennai organized a five weeklong Music Season in December that has been mentioned as the biggest cultural programs in the world. This city is also well recognized for its Classical dance known Bharatanatyam. Kalakshetra is the main cultural centre for Bharatanatyam. It has an exciting theatre scene, with a great number of Tamil theaters to be performed. It commemorates lots of festivals. Pongal is the main festival of Chennai. It is celebrated on 14 April every year. Other festivals like Christmas, Thai Poosam, Eid and Deepavali are also coomemorated in the City.

Transport

Chennai is considered as the Gateway to South India, it is well attached to other areas of India. The main national highways spread out towards Bangalore, Tiruvallur, Kolkata, Pondicherry and Trichy. The greatest bus station is known as Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus in South Asia. The Chennai International Airporst is the main worldwide gateway in India. It offers both international and domestic flights and attached to the main hubs in the Middle East, North America, South Asia, Europe and the South East Asia.

Chennai has 6 main print media teams that distribute various magazines and newspapers. The Deccan Chronicle, The New Indian Express, The Hindu and The Trinity Mirror are the main English dailies. The main industry and commercial dailies distributed in the city are The Hindu Business Line, The Financial Express, The Economic Times and Business Standard.
